Overview

Team profile

Peru have always been a dominant force in women's volleyball, although the glory days of the 1980s (including silver medals at the 1982 World Championship in Lima and the 1988 Olympics in Seoul) are long past.

Still Peru have a strong presence in most international competitions. This year they finshed 2nd in the Group 3 Finals of the World League (after a defeat in the final to Kenya at Canberra) and ranked 7th at the Pan American Games in Toronto. Quite a few of their players from those squads are present at Ankara.

After an almost 15-year hiatus, Peru have returned to age-group World Championships in the 21st Century -although they didn't qualify to the inaugural U23 event in 2013.
