Overview

Team profile

Colombia make a very rare international outing at this year's U23 World Championship. In the shadow of the other South American powerhouses, Colombia have competeted in very few FIVB and continental competitions and consequently have very few medals in their trophy cabinet.

Their women's senior team did, however, enter the World Grand Prix for the first time this year, topping the Group 3 preliminary round with a 5-1 record and eventually beating Australia in the finals in Canberra to claim the bronze medal of the group.

It is mostly this team from the World Grand Prix that will compete at the 2015 U23 World Championship in Ankara.

At FIVB age group World Championships Colombia have competed only twice in the U20 event, finishing 12th in 1989 and 13th in 2013. Inside of South America, they've won bronze medals at the South American Junior Championships in 1984 in Iquitos and 2012 in Lima.
