Turkey shields undefeated title in last Pool match

 

Ankara, Turkey, August 17, 2015 - Turkey, supported by 1500 cheering fans was more than ready to face Colombia and to finish the Pool as leaders in the last match of the day winning 3-0 (25–21, 25–13, 25–17).

Turkey will be playing against Japan in the semifinals. 

Turkey's Hande Baladin was the most scorer in the game, scoring 16 points.

Turkey had a good start and teams entered the technical timeouts at 8-7 and 16-13. Hande Baladin, the most scorer of the set, brought the set to Turkey with a fine attack at 25-21.

In the first set, receiving success was the key difference. Turkey did receive well (82%) whereas Colombia had problems (38%).

Turkey started off strong in the second set (6-1). Meliha's block stretched the margin to 9-2 and a smart touch by Cağla shut off the hopes of Colombia coming back.Later, Turkey increased the gap to 10 points (21-11). After serving for the set, Ozgenur's block won the set for Turkey at 25-13.

Both teams started competitive and it was a close game until the first technical pause which Colombia entered only a point behind. Turkey started to dominate after the pause and with Ezgi Dagdelenler's serve, followed by Hande's block; Turkey looked more comfortable (15-8). Colombia couldn't react as the hosts dominated and Turkey finished off the Pool as leaders.
