Today’s win gives us self-confidence – Colombia’s Amanda

 

Ankara, Turkey, August 15, 2015 – Colombia beat Egypt in straight sets 25-14, 25-19, 26-24 to claim their first win at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship in Ankara, Turkey. Find out more about the coach’s and player’s view of the game. 

Colombia coach Eduardo Guillaume: We played very well during the first two sets. In the second part of the third set, Egypt managed to adjust their game but we eventually pulled through. 

Colombia’s second best scorer Amanda: This win gives us self-confidence. On Monday, we’ll play against Turkey who are one of the best teams at the U23 world champs. It will be a tough match for us. 

Egypt coach Pantchev Strahil: My team surprised me in a positive way with their excellent fighting spirit in the third set. As we are preparing for the African Championship in September, every match helps us to improve.

Egypt captain Farida El Askalany: We had some very good moments today. However, we need to stay focused the whole match.
