Ankara, Turkey, August 12, 2015. Hosts of FIVB Women’s U23 World Championship, Turkey made a great start to the tournament by winning Egypt in three straight sets (25-10, 25-17, 25-13). Turkey coach Ferhat Akbaş stressed the first game was a good preparation for the remainder of the championship.
Turkey coach Ferhat Akbaş: This was not a very tough match for us. We started the game hesitant but our players needed a game like this because we will play very hard games in our Pool. This was a good preparation for the future. We will be better.
Turkey captain Ezgi Dağdelenler: The First day of tournaments are always hard. We are happy to win in straight sets. I want to congratulate my teammates. We will try to play better every day. We will fight to reach the finals.
Egypt coach Strahil Pantchev Balov: We have a little disappointment but we lost to the favorite team of this tournament. Turkey has a very impressive level. We played like it was a friendly game. I hope in the future we will improve our level.
Egypt captain Farida El Askalany: Turkey is better than us and they are more experienced. We are very young. We had to play like we did in the last set in the whole game to be able to win.
