Peru crush Cuba in three straight sets

 

Ankara, Turkey, August 14, 2015 – On day 3 of the 2015 FIVB Volleyball U23 Women’s World Championship in Ankara (Turkey), Pool B Peru and Cuba collided, where Peru won 3-0 in three extreme straight sets (25-9, 25-10, 25-22). 

Peru made the most out of a weak defence and reception portrayed by Cuba in today’s match where Peru player Coraima Gomez became the most scorer of the game. 

Peru starts off the first set with 5 consecutive points forcing Cuba to take early timeout. Peru completely controls the set due to poor defence by Cuba entering the first technical time at 8-2 and later 16-4. Cuba struggled with their reception defence which affected their attacking performance later losing the first set 25-9. 

Rapid start from Peru during second set gaining 6 consecutive points later entered the first technical timeout at 8-1 ahead. A disorganised Cuba struggled to resist against full power attacks made by Peru. Second technical timeout came with Peru ahead by 16-3 making the most out of a weak defence and serve block errors. Peru player Gomez blocks the final ball over the net allowing the team to win second set 25-10. Cuba gives 13 points to Peru due to errors. 

Cuba started the third set more organised, however Peru crept up and came ahead at the first technical timeout 8-6. Cuba has made a comeback up until both teams entering the second technical timeout 16-15. The third set has been extremely tight with both teams drawing 17-17 continued with a unique rally style. Cuba certainly displayed a better battle ensuring to the save the set as Peru took a timeout out at 23-22. The set finalised at 25-22. 

Peru player Gomez becomes the most scorer of the game 53% attack average.
