Dominican Republic reserve semifinal ticket

 

Ankara, Turkey, August 17, 2015 – Dominican Republic booked their ticket to the semifinals  after winning  3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-13) against Thailand in Pool B in the opening match of the fifth day at the FIVB Women'S U23 World Championship.

Both teams entered the first set tight and couldn't overpower in the following stages of the set. After entering the first technical pause one point behind, Thailand managed to snatch away the lead at 15-16. However, Dominicans won the set at 25-22 with Pimpichaya scoring 6 points.

Thailand was the better side in the early period of the second set. A double block by Kamulthala and Bundadak stretched Thailands lead to three points and Dominican Coach called a time out which gave the motivation to his team to take the lead at the technical pause (16-13). Pena and Captain Martinez dominated in the rest of the set and young Dominicans won the set.

Dominicans had a brilliant start and led at 8-1 in the third set. Thailand tried to stay in the game and to attempt a comeback (14-9), but Dominican Republic entered the technical pause at 16-10 and won the game by winning the set at 25-13.
