Dominican Republic celebrate first win against Peru

 

Ankara, Turkey, August 12, 2015 - Dominican Republic, the finalist from the previous U23 World Championship, competed against Peru in the second game of Pool B. Dominican Republic won by 3-1 (25-21, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17).

Despite Dominican Republic's poor attacks, offensive errors made by Peru played a major role to assist Dominican Republic in winning the first set 25-21.

Dominican Martinez collected 7 points helping her team in winning the set.

Compared to the first set, Dominican Republic portrayed better counter attacks and won the second set without a substantial effort (25-17).

After an excellent start in the third set, Peru led 8-0 at the first technical pause. They managed to hold on the lead and won the set 25-23.

In the fourth and the final set Dominican Republic led 8-1 when both teams arrived at the first technical pause. Dominican Republic didn't struggle much to protect their lead and won the fourth set and finished the game by 3-1 (25-21, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17). 

Dominican Republic captain Martinez contributed to her team by 23 points and Pena helped with 21 points.
